Vivaldi Project Open Workshop with the Baroque Orchestra

The UVA Department of Music presents an Open Workshop by the Vivaldi Project. The Vivaldi project will be working with the Baroque Orchestra. This free event takes place on Thursday, October 2nd at 7pm in room 113 Old Cabell Hall. This workshop is supported by the Gertrude Weber Endowment for Music.
The Vivaldi Project will present a free recital on Friday, October 3rd at 8pm in Old Cabell Hall. The concert that is also supported by the Gertrude Weber Endowment for Music, is also free and open to the public.
The musicians of The Vivaldi Project, dynamic educators as well as renowned performers, will explore with the students in the Baroque Orchestra some techniques and concepts involved in the performance of Early Music. Attendees, whether experienced musicians or novices, are sure to gain valuable insight from observing their interaction.
The period instrument ensemble takes its name from the virtuoso violinist and innovative composer Antonio Vivaldi in recognition of his pivotal position between earlier Baroque and later Classical composers. The Vivaldi Project's recording series, Discovering the Classical String Trio (MSR Records), continues to receive critical claim. Old Cabell Hall 113 is located inside the historic Old Cabell Hall. It is a facility used for performances, classes, colloquia, lectures, juries, and more. Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda. (map) Parking is available in the central grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Rd, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner. Handicap parking is available in the small parking lot adjacent to Bryan Hall.
