Jeremy Ulm

Lecturer, Horn

Jeremy Ulm is Lecturer of Horn at the University of Virginia and Principal Horn of the Charlottesville Symphony for the 2025-26 school year. 

As an orchestral performer, Jeremy is currently principal horn of the Charlottesville Symphony and third horn of Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, and was previously acting principal horn of the Topeka Symphony from 2024-25. He has performed with ensembles such as the Kansas City, Phoenix, Omaha, South Dakota, Santa Fe, Sioux City, Springfield MO and Kansas City Chamber Symphonies. During his Summers, Jeremy has performed with the Ad Astra and Sunflower Music Festivals, was a fellow of the National Repertory Orchestra, and has attended the Brevard Music Festival, among others.

As a chamber musician, Jeremy is a founding member of the State Line Horn Duo, a Kansas City based chamber ensemble dedicated to enriching the local music scene and developing the horn chamber music repertoire. Jeremy has performed with the Midwest Chamber Ensemble, the University of Kansas and Arizona State University Faculty Quintets, Cactus Chamber Musicians and was a fellow of the Plaza Wind Quintet at the University of Missouri, Kansas City for the 2024-25 school year.

Jeremy began his doctorate at the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 2024 with the Plaza Winds Quintet fellowship. Previously, Jeremy was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Kansas where he received his masters, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University with his undergraduate degree. His primary teachers include Alberto Suarez, Dr. Kelly Misko, Dr. Paul Stevens, Gabriel Kovach, and Dr. John Ericson.

Jeremy is a native of Phoenix, Arizona. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors, tending to his plants, reading, and spending time with the amazing friends, family and animals in his life.
