Messiah Sing-In 2025 - 58th Annual

The UVA Department of Music presents the 58th annual Messiah Sing-In on Tuesday, December 9th at 8:00 pm in Old Cabell Hall! The Sing-In is conducted by Michael Slon, UVA’s Director of Choral Music, and benefits the University's choral ensembles.
Join Charlottesville community members as well as singers from the University Singers, the UVA Chamber Singers, the Virginia Glee Club, and the Virginia Women's Chorus, as they fill Old Cabell Hall with Handel’s glorious music! Singing participants for the event sit in sections arranged according to vocal part (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), the orchestra sits on stage, while non-singers are encouraged to listen from the Loge and Balcony. Copies of the vocal score will be available for those who do not have their own, and orchestral parts will be made available in advance for instrumentalists.
The orchestra will include members of the Symphony, and other local professionals as principals. Community members interested in joining the orchestra are asked to sign-up in advance at the following site:

Through the years—and even a virtual version during the pandemic – the UVA Messiah Sing-In has remained a simple and joyous event, relying on the University and Charlottesville community to come together to sing and perform one of the greatest oratorios ever written. The event remains one of the first in the nation, started in 1968 by Professor Emeritus Donald Loach, who led the event for 50 years before passing the baton to Professor Michael Slon. Come sing or play your hearts out!
Tickets are $15 for the general public and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the UVA Arts Box Office online at https://artsboxoffice.virginia.edu/, by phone at (434) 924-3376 or in person at the Arts Box Office or at the door on the night of the concert. The UVA Arts Box Office is located on the John and Betsy Casteen Arts Grounds, inside the lobby of the UVA Drama Building at 109 Culbreth Road.
